A glorious Austrian made enamelled copper and brass Cocktail set comprising ice bucket and cocktail shaker!

A beautiful hand applied Enamelling in a fantastic Retro pattern that also draws on the exotic and mysterious sensibilities of the Austrian Secessionist movement and Austrian symbolist artist Gustav Klimt. Real gilt (gold) adds a wonderful luxury to this magnificent set which is of very high quality. Brass hardware however the enamelling is upon copper I believe.
Some internal crazing however the delicate enamelled surfaces have survived beautifully.
I note the cocktail shaker has a hairline crack inside the zinc plated interior . I also couldn’t manage to get the little brass cap off the domed top of the shaker after years of sitting I thinks its pretty well stuck on?
All told however this set is in terrific vintage condition! The bucket with handle up stands 21.5cm the shaker is 17.5cm. Combined weight 745 Grams.

Studio Steinböck was founded in the early 50’s by the students Hannes (John) & Haimo Steinböck, two brothers from Carinthia (southernmost Austrian state) who both joined the Academy of Art in Vienna, Austria. Nothing like this existed before at that time so they became self-made-men.  They produced various articles like jewellery, trays, vases, shop portals, artwork for churches and other special orders. Vienna’s famous artists (like Fuchs, Staudacher…) met there also and experimented with this material.

The Studio was known all over the world and was also a secret tip in tourist guides. Until the 80’s (with emerging terrorism and fear to travel), they had about one hundred employees who painted each piece by hand. Later there were only 20 with all the family members. The production switched to handprint combined with hand painting. But as always quality metals, enamels and 24 carat gold (printed and plated) were used.

Because ebay is still working on a MAJOR gliche in their sysytem!!
