We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one; postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice.

International Buyers please note: Unless the postage method quoted on this listing is shown as Express Courier International or Registered Post International, then your item is being sent either at Large Letter rate or as an ordinary Air Mail Parcel; both of these have NO TRACKING. If you require a more expensive method of posting which comes with tracking, please contact me before you pay. If you accept this cheaper method of posting, PLEASE BE PATIENT; 20-25 days is not uncommon for air mail delivery from Australia.
AUSTRALIAN BUYERS: if your postage method is shown as Standard Delivery, it is being sent as a Large Letter which has NO TRACKING. If you would prefer to pay extra to add tracking please contact me BEFORE you pay.

From a lovely collection of genuine Art Deco jewellery, much of it probably Made in Czechoslovakia or Bohemia 1920’s 1930’s and probably set with glittering Austrian lead crystal stones. A couple of pieces are stamped Czechoslovakia – other pieces are typically Czech /Bohemian in their design. All these are original pieces – not reproduction, and at a fraction of the price you would pay in a smart shop.

ART DECO STERLING SILVER MARCASITE & FAUX PEARL BROOCH & SCREW EARRINGS SET #14

Anecdotally this set was given as a gift to a lady acting as the Matron of Honour for a Debutante Presentation in the early 1940’s. Matching design of a bunch of grapes (faux pearls in a pale mauve colour) with vine leaves and branches picked out with glittering marcasites. Both the brooch and earrings are stamped Sterling, the brooch is 4.5 cms diameter and has a safety catch. The earrings are screw type and hang 2 cms. There is a spot of lustre finish missing from one of the earring pearls; otherwise all in good condition with no missing marcasites. It is on an old jewellery pad “Rivoli Sterling Silver Handset Marcasite”. Whether it was original to the set I don’t know. I am throwing in a DAMAGED necklace, sterling silver chain and push-in catch. It was part of the original presentation so I keeping them together. The metal work is NOT sterling (nickel?) , there are quite a few missing marcasites, and the centre faux pearl button has lustre loss. Maybe you can do something with it but do not factor it into your bidding, as it is DAMAGED.

My Items

  • The items I sell are vintage; they are second hand, old, sometimes very old. I try to describe and photograph my items honestly and to the best of my ability; however if pristine condition is very important to you, I feel you should be buying from a regular shop, where you can inspect the items personally. Please note that all my items are sold "as is", with no warranty implied, and that the photos form part of the description, which should be read carefully. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA ASK A QUESTION - BOTTOM LEFT OF EVERY LISTING.

Shipping and Payment Terms; Combining Items

  • Payment in Australia may be made by PayPal or Bank Deposit, International payments by PayPal only
  • If you win more than one item in a listing please wait for a combined invoice from me to save you on postage and insurance costs. I always wait until the last item in an auction listing finishes before sending invoices in case buyers win more than one item. If you win an item and are planning to bid on an item in a later-finishing auction, please email me to let me know, and I will wait until that auction has finished to send you a combined invoice
  • I would normally expect payment within 5 days; if for some reason this is not possible, please contact me to explain
  • Many of my items are very light and could be combined without much (or any) increase in postage costs. Once the value of a parcel exceeds $100 postal insurance must be paid. Within Australia this costs $4.45; the cost for  Registered Post International varies - please ask for a quote.
  • International buyers please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (postage) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional postage charges.
Problem with a Transaction?

PLEASE contact me first. I am a reasonable human being; if there is a problem I am sure we can work something out that will satisfy us both. Involving eBay should be a last resort – something I hope will not be necessary. Contact Seller is the first option under More Actions on your Purchase History page, Ask Seller a Question is at the bottom left of every listing, or simply Reply to the email I sent when I posted your item.

Feedback – Late Shipment Rate

eBay’s newest measure to defect Sellers is the Late Shipment Rate. As we all know, Sellers do not PERSONALLY deliver packages. Once I take an item to the Post Office, delivery time is up to Australia Post or International Carriers. The estimated time of arrival that eBay gives is often grossly inadequate, especially to areas far from me, or overseas. If you choose to leave Feedback, eBay may ask you whether your item arrived within the estimated delivery time. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION; it is not compulsory, just as Feedback is not compulsory. If you are happy with the time of arrival, or know it arrived within the given dates, you can answer Yes if you want to. If you can’t remember, or realise that delivery times are beyond my control, I would encourage you not to answer the question. It has always been my policy to leave Positive Feedback when an item has been paid for and I have posted the parcel. I will always email you to let you know when that occurs, so you may know when to expect the parcel; if the parcel has tracking, I will let you know the number, and also upload it to eBay so that you can track its progress there.

Leaving Feedback is not compulsory; if you want to leave me Positive Feedback, then that is very nice and I appreciate it. If you have some problem with our transaction, and you feel like leaving me Neutral or Negative Feedback, please contact me BEFORE leaving Feedback so that we can work something out that will leave us both feeling happier. I always try to describe my items fully and honestly, and work hard to try and ensure that my buyers are satisfied. However I am only human; SHOULD a problem arise please contact me FIRST. Sorry about the length of this message; I assume that you may want to remain an eBay buyer, and hope that if you buy from me your experience will be a happy one. It is just that with the way things are changing, there may no longer be small sellers of vintage items (like me) on eBay to buy from.
