- Era: Art Deco
- Product Type: Figurine - Jessie Van Hallen
- Region: England
This is a WADE ART DECO cellulose figure, dating between 1927 and 1937 and designed by Head Designer for George Wade & Son, Jessie Van Hallen.
Figure is called 'SUNSHINE'. Height - 16.5 cm (6 1/2"). This figure has the most lovely face.
These cellulose figures were in production for only about a decade, but production ceased when Wade found that the cellulose was unstable, turning yellow and then peeling off.
This particular figurine, although free from chip and crack damage, does have peeling damage as described above. Odd bits of peeling are on the hat and parasol and the bottom section of the gown. There is no major area of peeling. There is no peeling on the face or generally the front and back of the figurine. There is minimal peeling on the left front of the gown. Please note - the other "white marks" are shine from camera flash.
Still a charming figure and clearly marked to the base with the Wade leaping deer mark. Under the word WADE, the word 'Figures' has been added in handwriting.
We consider this rare and collectable figure to be in quite good condition.
