Extremely rare Australiana - 1930s galvanised metal Willow Butter Cooler with a large part of its original label still attached! Made in Melbourne
The only other example I could find was in one of Australian museums. Beautiful condition - "as found" dust'n all - leave up to you to leave as is or clean it up.
Condition: not perfect, but excellent considering it is almost 100 years old, discoloured in many places, minor nicks and bruises etc; nothing major, no repairs. I believe it was never used for its original purpose, but you make up your own mind...
"Butter cooler with cylindrical cover with wired and rolled lower rim, indented top, central pierced moulded dome 1.5 high under strip metal handle. Lid fits over a shaped dish, with raised centre platform for the butter. Indentation on top would have carried water which seeped through the cloth to the channel around the dish below."
Check out photos and let me know if you have any questions about the cooler – happy to send more photos.
